RAID systems (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) combine physical hard disks into one logical drive using a hardware component (there is a RAID controller hardware implemented in the system) or a software application (that simulates a RAID array).
There are several types of RAID (we mention here only the supported ones):
RAID 0 - provides better performance and capacity, but a level of redundancy 0, meaning that any
error will inevitably lead to data loss
RAID 1 - provides an excellent balance between performance and data protection
RAID 4
RAID 5 - better performance, better reliability
